The Fermilab’s Technical Division (TD) is involved in the support of active accelerators and in the development of future high-energy physics machines. The TD Test and Instrumentation Department performs measurements and tests of both R&D and production accelerator components, and develops technologically advanced instrumentation and control solutions for accelerator applications. The two major accelerator technologies that the department supports are magnets (conventional and superconducting) and Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities for use at Fermilab and in collaborations world-wide.
The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and engineers to contribute to the design, fabrication, integration, and maintenance of DAQ and Controls systems in support of conventional and superconducting accelerator device measurements and testing.
Responsibilities
Work independently to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to design electronic circuits for DAQ and Controls systems
Plan projects from inception to completion, develop specifications of complex engineering designs, document work, and bring projects to their operational objective
Provide technical direction and/or supervise designers, engineering associates, technicians, or junior engineers as assigned to specific projects
Propose reliable solutions to engineering problems and provide a thorough analysis of alternatives
Contribute to the setting of laboratory engineering policies, safety standards or technical standards
