Job Title: Credit Collections Analyst
Location: Fairport
Position Summary
Maintain optimal balance between customer’s ability and willingness to repay account balance, with the objective of minimizing write-offs. Maintain adequate cash flow by requiring prompt payment from customers and prompt resolution of customer disputes and balances in arrears.
Principal Responsibilities
- Works closely with Customers – making credit / collection calls. Strong customer service skills required. Assists customers with account reconciliation, invoicing and shipping questions and/or problems. To do this, the Credit and Collection Analyst should possess a strong understanding of system and departmental procedures and processing as well as fundamental accounting, credit and collection practices.
- Responsible for credit review of customer orders not meeting their assigned credit limits and / or terms and contacting the customer for payment schedule.
- Monitor customer-paying habits and resolve past due balances through diligent and consistently applied collection efforts
- If additional and / or amended terms are required, the Analyst may have active participation in the customer negotiations, under limited supervision. The Analyst reviews the customer account in accordance with specified procedures and prepares data for approval or disapproval by the designate manager as part of this negotiation and contacts the customer accordingly.
- Provide management with timely reports on status of receivable portfolio for customers within Credit Collection Analyst territory.
- Update projects/customer account files.
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports.
- Work within computer software systems for processing and analysis, report writing, and letter writing.
- Assist financial staff.
Education
Required: Associate Degree in Business Administration
Preferred: Bachelors’ Degree preferred
Experience
Minimum: Five years commercial credit experience
Special Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. PC literate. Requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment. Ability to continuously apply experience to new situations and demands in the Financial Services area.
