О “скучной” жизни в Фэрбенксе. Раз в неделю приходит бумажное издание Latitude, а затем сбрасывают на и-мэйл календарь культурно-развлекательных мероприятий на неделю. При этом отбор в календарь проходит по определенным критериям - нет мероприятий от церквей, во многих из которых развлекательные программы украсили бы афишу любого дома культуры :-), нет фандрейзеров, нет перечисления какие из творческих домой/галерей/артистов проводят свои First Friday, хорошая традиция привлечения гостей в культурные очаги города с помощью бесплатной еды и атмосферы открытых дверей, нет многих мероприятий проводимых школами. Для активной семьи выходные - это сплошной выбор, как разорваться между тем что хочется и интересно и происходит одновременно в разных частях города. Особенно с наступлением весны-лета.
Список мероприятий культурно-развлекательного направления, чтобы дать представление как живет маленький сравнительно город (население Фэрбенса два года назад насчитывало 35 тысяч человек, население округа FNSB около или немного за 90 тысяч человек, но за два гда только школьное управление потеряло более 400 учеников, что означает из семьи убыли из округа и население усыхает, пенсионеры некоторые покидают штат совсем, т.к. snowbirding, т.е. проживание на два дома или зима в континентальном штате/Гаваях, а лето на Аляске, не всем по карману).
